Update your civil status on your residence card (changement d’état civil)

If your civil status changes through marriage, divorce or a change of name, you can request a duplicate residence card to add or remove your spouse’s surname or change your names. This is optional. You apply online through the ANEF online portal.

Steps

Apply for a duplicate online through the ANEF online portal.
Provide proof of payment of the tax and/or stamp duty when you collect your card.

Documents to bring

Your residence permit (titre de séjour).
Your passport: pages showing your civil status, validity dates and entry stamps.
Your birth certificate (acte de naissance): a full copy or an extract showing parentage.
If you married: your marriage certificate.
If you divorced: your divorce judgment.
If you changed your surname or given names: a document proving the change.
A justificatif de domicile (proof of address) less than 3 months old.
3 photos.
Proof of payment of the tax and/or stamp duty, required when you collect your card.

You do not have to request this update.
Your card is free if you are an EU, EEA or Swiss national, or a family member of such a national.
If you are in another situation, you must pay 50 € using the timbre fiscal tax stamp.
